How Aloha Soaps Are Made
Aloha Soaps are hand-made from scratch using the "Oven Hot Process" method. The Oven Hot Process method allows for the soap mixture to "cook" gently, yet quickly, on low heat. Our soaps are 100% Vegan, do not include any animal fats or dairy products and are not made from "Melt & Pour Glycerin bases". Aloha Soaps are less processed than commercial soaps, therefore gentler on your skin.
Demonstrated in this example is our basic process for creating a swirled pink and white soap. We add a mixture of sodium hydroxide and distilled water to oils. We use a blend of Coconut, Macadamia Nut, Kukui Nut, Palm, Olive and Castor oils in all our soap formulas. The oils/sodium hydroxide/water mixture is blended well, then color additives are blended into this mixture.

The white portion of the soap mixture is also blended well.

After blending well, both pots of the soap mixture are put into an oven on very low heat. The slow, gentle cook helps the mixture to gel and saponify, converting the fat into soap! Here are photos of the cooking soap mixture.

Once the soap mixtures are completely cooked, fragrance oils are added to the colored and white mixtures. Depending on the type of soap, any botanicals and excess oils (for superfatting) are also added at this time. Then the two mixtures are combined and carefully blended for a swirl effect. The mixture is then poured into a lined wooden mold where it is left to cool.

After cooling the soap is removed from its mold, trimmed, then hand-cut.
